Glory of Google Helps Teacher Connect with ALL Students

Watauga MS ELAR teacher Rendon Ellis used Google Translate to communicate with a new student. Then, he shared the experience on social media to connect with his ever-growing PLN.

Screencasting via ShowMe



ShowMe is an interactive whiteboard iPad application in which users create and share video lessons. Educators and students are using ShowMe as a screencasting application to quickly record annotations and narrate over any type of content. Users share completed projects within the ShowMe library or as a link. Teachers can access and share other videos shared within the ShowMe library.  

ShowMe in Action: Chad Morrisey, a third grade teacher at Spicer Elementary, is using ShowMe with students to provide a deeper understanding of academic vocabulary. Students create a video to teach other students how to use their academic word correctly. 

Digital Learning Platform: ShowMe is an interactive application in which students and teachers engage to create authentic tasks and products.

Google Drive: Storage and Creation In The Cloud



Google Drive is an online storage application in which BISD teachers and students can store and share documents, images, and videos in the cloud using their BISD GAFE (Google Apps for Education) account accessible from any device. Drive is also an application in which teachers and students use to create files using the following Google Apps.



  • ·         Google Docs is a word processing tool similar to Microsoft Word.
  • ·         Google Slides is a presentation tool similar to Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • ·         Google Sheets is a spreadsheet tool similar to Microsoft Excel.
  • ·         Google Forms is a survey creation tool similar to SurveyMonkey.

Google Drive in Action: Coach Charles Davis from Haltom High School is using Google Drive with students to provide access to classroom assignments and files. Advantages include that students have access to classroom content anytime, anywhere. Coach Davis reports that this ability provides students extra class time to complete assignments. 

Digital Learning Platform: Google Drive is a best practice and structure in which teachers and students can organize, share, collaborate, and create files, images, and media.

RHS Freshmen Log In to All Accounts in ELA

Kate Chambers set up a log in day and helped her students log into their Google, Skyward, and Canvas accounts after re-setting network passwords. Students completed a goal setting Google Form and began flipped lessons.

Leverage eLearning via Canvas



Canvas is an online learning management system (LMS) that provides an integrated system for online classroom discussions, meaningful online activities, access to instructional materials, resources, and assignments accessible from any device. Educators organize their online Canvas course using an integrated calendaring and syllabus system, content modules, and communication streams. Canvas offers users the ability to leverage audio and video recording functionality within assignments, quizzes, discussions, and web conferencing to maximize interaction outside the classroom. Canvas assessment tools provides teachers the ability to track, grade, and communicate learning outcomes.

Canvas in Action: Students interested in preparing for the PSAT and SAT exams access an online Canvas course to access videos, resources, and content to assist with test preparation. Students can collaborate within a learning community and experience 21st century online learning experiences, improving post-secondary readiness.
