Teaching Programing via Scratch

Scratch is a free visual programming language in which students create digital stories, interactive art, games, animations, and share creations with others around the world. Scratched is an online community where educators incorporating Scratch can exchange lesson resources, ask questions, and locate other educators.

Scratch in Action: Elementary students utilized Scratch during art day to create and author digital stories. Students accessed Step-by-Step tutorials within Scratch, which introduced elementary students to basic programing concepts. Students shared completed projects with peers and had the opportunity to share as an author to a wider community within Scratch.

Digital Learning Platform: Scratch assists students with creation of authentic tasks and products. Students can share and publish projects to a larger community, increasing feedback opportunities.
