Kinders Creating and Recording Math Story Problems

Last week at Hardeman Elementary, collaboration paid off in a big way.  Math coach Kelli Flanigan and Kindergarten teacher Becky Lynch worked together to design a way for students to demonstrate their knowledge of math story problems.  Lynch and Flanigan found a SMART Notebook file featuring multiple background scenes, added appropriate graphics for each background, and then asked students to create story problems based on what they saw on each page.  Taking it a step further, Lynch used Notebook's screen recorder and the microphone on her document camera to allow students to talk through their story problem as they created it.  The video that the kids created was saved to Lynch's computer and will be used in Flipgrid to allow students to solve one another's problems.  Awesome use of digital resources!

If you would like to know more about these or other resources, please contact your campus DLS.  They would love to help!
